In 1972, Jim Telgard started the Booster Club to help raise money for bus transportation so the basketball team could get to and from their games. It was such a success, that the club continued raising money through the years for any extras the Leland teams or classrooms needed. Along with Jim Telgard, the original members were Carol Munoz, Joe Burda, Sr., & Dee Glass.
Today, nearly 40 years later, the Boosters club still raises money for school related trips, books and classroom supplies, lab equipment, media equipment, art and music supplies, etc. We achieve this by having two fundraisers a year. During the holidays, we sell beautiful wreaths and roping, and in the spring, we have a chicken dinner held at the Blue Bird Restaurant, and hosted and donated by the Telgard family.
Our membership has grown through the years, but our main focus remains the same, which is to continue helping the students, coaches and teachers of Leland Public School with all the little extras that will help them become bigger, smarter, faster, stronger and more successful!
We also have a third fundraiser. We are now selling Leland athletic clothing at the school “store” located across from the front office. Please stop by and support your school by purchasing a sweatshirt or t-shirt for yourself. With the help of our caring and giving community, we hope to continue helping the students of Leland Public School for many years to come.
